Glucosamine is an aminopolysaccharide (a combination of the amino acid — glutamine and a sugar — glucose). Glucosamine is naturally produced by the body and is a key component of cartilage. Scutellaria is also called Scullcap and is a member of the mint family. There are more than 100 related species of scutellaria throughout North America, Europe and China. Three bioactive flavonoids — baicalin, baicalein and wogonin — have been extracted from scutellaria and are thought to contribute to the major activities of the plant. Why is chondroitin not included in Glucosatrin?
Chondroitin sulfate, a popular ingredient in other bone and joint formulas, is not included in Glucosatrin because studies have proved inconclusive about its effectiveness. At least a half dozen studies show that the bioavailability of chondroitin sulfate is highly variable, ranging from zero to 13 percent of any given dose, with the average uptake being about six percent. In addition, one study has linked chondroitin sulfate to prostate cancer.
Will my customer still benefit if they take less than the recommended three tablets a day?
Studies have shown that 1500 mg glucosamine are required daily for joint health.
Why is Glucosatrin not in an isotonic form?
It is difficult to make some of the botanical ingredients in Glucosatrin isotonic, while still maintaining calorie content. Other ingredients in Glucosatrin do not have a pleasant taste (they are bitter) and are delivered in a tablet to avoid lingering on the tongue.
